Mission & Vision
The mission of Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy is to provide a safe, enriching environment for all young adolescents to mature intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally in preparation for a successful university experience and life beyond their formal education as contributing members of a democratic society.
It is our vision to develop each student’s independence and self-discipline fostered through individual Personal Learning Plans; built on rigorous academic standards, in conjunction with Advanced Placement courses to provide the opportunity for a successful collegiate experience.
Our goals are to provide a safe, enriching environment in order to identify student learning styles; enhance the opportunities for students to increase their learning capacity through interaction, observation, and investigation. Develop student responsibility in order for self-evaluation of the purpose, value and importance of their personal learning plans.
Crest Description – Symbolism
The CSPA Crest was created by CSA Middle School students in 2008. Components of the crest were chosen to reflect our mission and the students who attend CSPA. Many of the symbols also reflect the dispositions, which are Habits of Mind, displayed by intelligent people in response to problems, dilemmas, and enigmas, the resolution of which are not immediately apparent. Also apparent in the symbolism are Smart Character Choices that help us build meaningful and productive relationships: respect, kindness, responsibility, getting along, work ethic, and optimism.
Maroon - patient in battle, yet victorious (Habits…persisting, managing impulsivity, striving for accuracy, taking responsible risks; Choices…optimism, work ethic)
Gold - Generosity and elevation of mind (Habits…Listening with Understanding and Empathy, Choices…kindness, getting along)
Blue -Truth, loyalty in love (Habits…responding with wonderment and awe, thinking interdependently; Choices…negotiating differences, accepting, supporting, trusting, encouraging)
Book - a manifestation of learning; a visual indication of the importance of learning. Habits…remaining open to learning, thinking flexibly, thinking about your thinking, gather data through all senses)
Crown - Royal higher order; a token of civic honor; authority (Persisting, listening with understanding and empathy, taking responsible risks)
Fire - Zealousness, passion for learning (Habits…thinking flexibly, thinking about your thinking, question and problem posing, applying past knowledge to new situations, creating, imagining and innovating, gathering data through all senses, remaining open to continuous learning)
Stars - Celestial goodness; a noble person; represents the goodness of Charyl (Habits…listening with understanding and empathy, thinking flexibly , finding humor, remaining open to continuous learning, responding with wonderment and awe; Choices…listening, accepting, respecting, supporting, trusting, encouraging)
